Ingredients
-
1 loaf Texas toast–style thick-sliced bread
-
½ cup salted butter, softened
-
3 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
-
1 tablespoon parsley, chopped (optional)
-
1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
-
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional but adds great flavor)
-
¼ teaspoon salt (skip if using salted butter and garlic powder)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Garlic Butter
-
In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, garlic, parsley, and salt (if needed).
2. Assemble the Toast
-
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
-
Lay the slices of Texas toast on a baking sheet.
-
Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over each slice.
-
Top generously with mozzarella (and cheddar if using).
3. Bake
-
Bake for 8–10 minutes, until the edges are golden and the cheese is melted.
-
For extra browning, broil for 1–2 minutes—but watch closely.
4. Serve
-
Serve hot with pasta, soup, salad, or as a side for steak, barbecue, or any comfort meal.
Tips
-
Add red pepper flakes if you want a little heat.
-
Mix in 1–2 tablespoons mayonnaise with the butter for an ultra-creamy topping.
-
Use freshly grated cheese for the best melt.
-
For garlic lovers, rub each slice with a raw garlic clove before topping.
