Ingredients (Serves 10–12)

For the Caramel:

  • 1 cup (200g) sugar

  • 2 tablespoons water

For the Flan Layer:

  • 1 can (14 oz / 395g) sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 can (12 oz / 354ml) evaporated milk

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cake Layer:

  • 1 cup (130g) all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup (100g) sugar

  • ¼ cup (60ml) milk

  • ¼ cup (60ml) vegetable oil or melted butter

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 large eggs

Optional but Worth It:

  • ½ cup dulce de leche (caramel spread) for extra richness


Instructions

  1. Make the caramel – In a saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar and 2 tbsp water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture melts and turns golden brown (about 5–8 minutes). Don't walk away — caramel goes from perfect to burnt quickly. Immediately pour into a Bundt pan, tilting to coat the bottom and sides evenly. Set aside to harden (about 15 minutes).
